The river, lined with unforgettable huge white sand beach, is where we camp after the days rafting. The HCR staff takes care of everything, even the smallest details. The tents are set up and taken down for you each day. All camp chores and meals are taken care of. We even do the dishes. River guides are really kids at heart and easily relate to all age ranges. Not just one guide will entertain your family. This is a family trip, and the guides soon become one of the family. Have you ever built a paddle boat slide into the river? There is always something for your kids to do, and someone to facilitate it if you would rather relax with your book in the shade. The kid’s activity box, which contains, beach games, cards, arts and crafts supplies, and great kids books is always available in camp. Kids, parents, and grandparents all can enjoy this trip.
On the river, there are no interruptions, no cell phones, traffic, and no hassles. At dinnertime, your family can sit down together. Usually other families will travel with you. Many family friendships begin on river trips. We have had several families plan to come back at the same time for another trip. Catch a fish. We provide everything, and the fishing is easy. Our guides will help your youngsters catch that first fish, or just set you up with a tackle, rod, and a bit of local knowledge

A typical day on the river begins with the aroma of hot coffee available early, followed by hot cocoa, tea, juice and fruit, and a huge breakfast served around 7:30AM. After breakfast, you can pack your personal gear while we take down the tents, clean up the kitchen, and pack the boats. We jump into the boats for the days adventure by about 9:30.
The day is filled with fun rapids, great scenery, water fights, a short hike to scout a rapid, or a historical point. The Nez Perce called this area their home, as well as miners, and earlier inhabitants that left their marks on the rock walls (pictographs). The natural and cultural history of the Salmon river canyon lends itself to some great stories. The Nez Perce War, and their crossings of the river in their flight for freedom, or visit an abandoned mine, and see where the Chinese built small rock houses.
